What is Abdominal Cavity?
Contains the stomach, small intestine, most of the large intestine, appendix, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen.
What is Abdominal Regions?
Divisions of the large abdominal cavity, which can be split into different quadrants
What is Anterior?
Body parts in front of the plane or on the front of the body
What is Bilateral?
Affects both sides of the body
What is Body Cavities?
Spaces within the body that contain vital organs.
What is Body Planes?
Imaginary lines drawn through the body at various parts to separate the body into sections.
What is Buccal Cavity?
For the teeth and tongue
What is Caudal?
Body parts near the sacral region of the spinal column
What is Cranial?
Body parts near the head
What is Cranial Cavity?
Contains the brain and the spinal cavity
What is Deep?
Indicate the structures are located away from the body surface
What is Frontal (coronal) Plane?
Divides the body into a front section and a back section
What is Medial?
Body parts close to the midline
What is Orbital Cavity?
For the eyes
What is Proximal?
Body parts close to the point of reference
What is Distal?
Body parts distant from the point of reference
What is Inferior?
Body parts below other parts
What is Midsagittal Plane?
The sagittal plane runs down the midline of the body and divides the body into equal halves.
What is Pelvic Cavity?
Contains the urinary bladder, the reproductive organs, and the last part of the large intestine.
What is Saittal Plane?
Divides the body into left and right sections
What is Dorsal?
One long, continuous cavity located on the back of the body.
What is Lateral?
Body parts away from the midline
What is Nasal Cavity?
For the nose structures
What is Posterior?
Body parts on the back of the body
What is Spinal Cavity?
Contains spinal cord
