What is an independent clause?
Words like: 'and', 'or', 'but', and 'so' that can connect complete ideas.
What are coordinating conjunctions?
A persuasive appeal that tries to convince the audience of something by showing facts, statistics, or logic to prove their point
What is logos?
This word describes the time, place, and condition in which a story takes place.
What is setting?
It's when a story has a narrator who tells the story from a bird's eye view, sometimes giving insight into the thoughts and feelings of one character, sometimes into the thoughts and feelings of many characters.
What is third person point of view?
This set of words includes a subject and a verb, but does not make a complete idea, and would be a fragment sentence if left alone.
What is a subordinate or dependent clause?
Words like: Since, While, After, Because, Unless, and If, that can connect two clauses together.
What is a subordinating conjunction?
A persuasive appeal to the audience's emotion that tries to sway someone by activating fear, nostalgia, a need to belong, etc.
What is pathos?
This part of a story introduces the characters, setting, and conflict to the reader. They find out what 'normal' life was like before a conflict was introduced.
What is exposition?
This punctuation is used in narrative to indicate that something is being spoken out loud by a character
What are quotation marks?
Words that describe a noun or pronoun by describing what kind, which one, or how many?
What is an adjective?
This is a set of words that includes a noun connected to the rest of the sentence by time, place, or position, not action.
(Hint: It ends with the noun and starts with a word that is tying it into the sentence)
What is a prepositional phrase?
In non-fiction writing, these marks are used to indicate that a part of the original quoted material has been left out of the new writing.

What is hyperbole?
The character or force that your main character is fighting against. It might be a villain or bad guy, or just someone or something that gets in the way of what your character wants.

When writing dialogue, an author might add this punctuation to indicate a long pause or trail off in a person's speech.
What are ellipses (...)?
A sentence like:
After everyone stopped panicking, the hero led them safely out of the burning building, and they all lived happily ever after.
What is a compound-complex sentence?

What is a dangling modifier?
