What is balance?

May be a continuous mark or implied by the edges of shapes and forms. Used to design contours, outlines, and space.

The sense of wholeness in a work of art.

What is movement?
An art form that entails pasting/gluing paper or other materials to a surface.
What is a collage?
Refers to the visual and physical qualities of a surface.
What is texture?
The lightness and darkness of a color or tone.
What is value?
When there is a comparative size relationship among several objects or between several parts of a single object or person.
What is proportion?
Repeated elements such as shapes or color.
What is pattern?
An artwork that shows just the outline of an object.
What is contour?
Indicates positive and negative areas in a painting and gives the feelings of depth to a two-dimensional work of art.
What is space?
Created when dark value and light value are placed close together.
What is value contrast?
To place greater attention on certain areas, objects, or feelings in a painting.
What is emphasis?
Regular repetition of elements such as line, shape and forms to create interest and consistency.
