Spirituals were also songs that would help slaves escape their plantations. Contained secret messages to help slaves.

They were proud of their skin as it reminded them of the culture of that land and that their skin is so beautiful it as if it was kissed by the sun itself to create it.

The dimensions [measurements]that an enslaved person was allotted on a ship were 5feet of height and 2 feet of width. The enslaved vomited and relieved themselves in the same spot that they were chained on the ships. There was more than one level into which some slaves were packed on some ships. Disease ravaged [exhausted]the enslaved on the ships.
