Blue gill are small fish that live in shallow ponds or lakes that have plenty of "sea weed." How do you think Blue Gill rely on these sea weeds? 

They use the sea weed as shelter from the sun and predators but also for food! If there was no "sea weed," there would be no place for them to hide and they would likely be eaten by bigger predators.
