Viking women also were only allowed a knife as a weapon as apposed to the swords the men carried.

A successful Viking raid = Young Vikings went on raids in the hope of becoming rich and buying a farm when they returned. They sailed on small, fast ships which had broad bottoms so the ships could land on beaches. The tactics they used were: Show up without warning, loot as much as possible and then disappear before the local military arrived.
