The main character of this poem is sad because his love, Lenore, has died. He is reading alone in his room and hearing voices, but nobody is there. He goes to the window, and a Raven flies in his room. The man begins to talk to this Raven, believing it can tell him about Lenore. The Raven only replies "Nevermore." The man becomes mad at the Raven, but the Raven never leaves. The man lays on the floor in grief.
