Who someone you can go to for confidential mental health help?

The counselors! They can be found in the Health Center.

What should borders do if they are hungry after the dining hall closes and don’t have snacks in their rooms?

Ask a houseparent! They will provide you with snacks up until 10:30pm.

What are Open Doors?

Wellie Open Doors are a wellie-planned activity where you can come and chat with the people in the READY center or just come have a chill, fun time.

Can day students go to study hall?

Yes day students can go to study hall! Day students just have to sign into study and sign out and do not have to stay the whole time.

Is it bad to ask for extra help?

No of course not! Asking for extra help is actually one of the best things you can do! Teachers want to help you be the best you can be and don't want you to feel overwhelmed, so asking for help is not at all a bad thing! This shows that you know your own limitations and want to truly understand what you are being taught.

Do you have to pay for the buses?

Nope just show the your school ID and will get free transportation!

What is the Ready Center?

The Ready Center is a space below sage stairs that is used as a spot for daily nourishment, seeing friends, hanging out and having a little break from the havoc of the school day. It also has a lot of resources on wellness topics to help with anything you need!

Who is it better to be friends with, boarders or day?

Neither! Just be friends with the people you genuinely connect with!

What are some academic resources within the Emma community?

The library, learning support, study hall affiliates, Primes and Humaniteam, language tutors.

What is a Wellness Day?

A Wellness Day can be used once a semester, and you are excused from all of your classes and commitments for the day. This is a great opportunity to recharge. Let the Health Center know before 9am of the day you want to take your Wellness Day. Tell your houseparents if you are a boarder, or have your parents email the Health Center if you are a day student. More information can be found in the Fine Print!

Should you tell the Doordash/Uber Eats person where to drop off you food?

Yes! Just leave a little note on your order saying to leave it on the table under the flag right near the front door.

Can you come and talk to the Wellies if you just need someone to listen and support you?

Of course! The Wellies are always happy to talk with you and be a supportive listening figure!

Can day students sleepover at Emma?

Yes! Day students can sleepover at Emma a few times a semester as long as they have communicated properly with the right adults. For more information, please look at the Fine Print.

Is it good to have your own personal planning system?

Yes, of course! Having a planner is a great way to keep track of all you responsibilities, but not everyone is going to have the same system. Make lists or get a calendar or do other things as long as it keeps YOU organized.

How do you schedule an appointment with one of the counselors?

Google calendar! Type their names into the Emma google calendar and you can access all their available times and schedule an appointment.

Am I allowed to keep snacks in my room?

Yes! Just make sure to keep them in a bin or something secured and not strewn about. Houseparent's often have snacks available as well.

Where can you find the Wellies?

 We are all around campus and happy to talk whenever, but if you want a designated time to speak with any of us, stop by our Open Doors!

Can you take a border back to your house if you’re a day student?

Yes you can! They have to sign out with their houseparent and fill out a REACH form if it is overnight.

Can you set up a one on one meeting with your teacher to go over confusing class material?

Of course! You can email them and set up a Google Calendar meeting and they will help you with the work you are struggling with.

What is safe harbor?

Safe harbor is a way in which you go to the health center and either safe harbor yourself or someone else by being honest and asking for help for an issue in which is very personal or very extreme.

I just saw a ghastly sight in the toilet\the toilet is clogged, what do I do?

Just let a house parent know! These things happen from time to time and it is okay. It will be solved quickly and surely.

What do the Wellies do?

Wellies are wellness advocates who are here to help for your wellness needs around campus!

Can day students leave during school hours/ before sports?

During school hours it is not okay to leave until senior year in the spring where you sign out, as well as it is needed to sign out before sports after school.

Where do I go if I don’t understand anything and I’m going to fail a test the night before?

It’s okay to sometimes be behind in studying or confused, just let your teacher know! Email them and ask for help, or ask for help from your peers, dorm affiliate or your guardian/ house parent. Everyone is here to help so don’t ever be too stressed but it’s ok to fail too if you tried your best!
