Chapters 1-5
Cleo starts her first days of school with her friends. And she dislikes the experience.

Cleo gets a call from Jack asking her about the situation in Portland.

Cleo works long hours in the hospital. And she treats more people that are sick with influenza.

Cleo and Edmund help more patients from Influenza
What is chapter 20?
Cleo waits at the train station for Jack. However, as they arrive, she starts bleeding from the influenza. She is rushed to the hospital and she is cured. She starts to reminisce about her job in the hospital as things are returning to normal.
What are chapters 24-27?
Cleo begins to live in her school in Portland, Oregon after her brother and his wife moves for an extended vacation.
What is Chapter 1?
Cleo returns to the auditorium, she realizes the the hardships and challenges of working in the red cross.

Cleo and Kate bring the dead man to the hospital and they realize the horrors of working in a hospital.
What is Chapter 14
Cleo helps an injured patient by bringing supplies and calming the patient.
What is Chapter 18?
A vaccine is created and arrives at Portland. Helping the situation. However more is needed to cure the population. Kate succumbs to to influenza and dies in the hospital
What is Chapter 22?
A precautionary measure is issued by the mayor to shut down all public activities due to the spread of influenza coming to Portland.
What is chapter 4?
After Cleo gets home, she finds a newspaper that asks for women to enlist to the American Red Cross.
What is chapter 4?
Another person dies and Edmund realizes that Cleo has been living alone and that is is being reckless. A man that Cleo had just met died on the street causing panic.
What is Chapter 13?
Cleo and Kate spend some time together outside of the hospital, and Cleo gets a another telegram from Jack informing her that they are well and her maid is coming soon.
What is Chapter 16?
Cleo meets Kate's family to prepare for her burial. Unfortunately, they will have to wait until the middle of November.
What is Chapter 24?
Cleo and her friends hang out with each other and talk about the influenza that is terrorizing the east cost of the USA.
What is Chapter 3?
Cleo finishes handing out pamphlets with the Bassi family in which she helps the family get their father home
What is chapter 9?
Cleo and Edmund help A sick patient back to save him.
What is Chapter 12?
More people are getting sick and dying from influenza, and people are starting to skip burials to save time.
What is Chapter 17?
Cleo gets a telegram stating that Jack would be back in Oregon tomorrow. She reads the list of people who have died and sees Kate's name.
What is chapter 24?
A telegram comes from Jack, Cleo's brother that states that they are coming back as fast as they can. Because of this, Cleo decides to escape from her quarantined school.
What is chapter 5?
Cleo applies to the Red Cross, and they accept her application. Her first job is to give pamphlets that warn people of influenza to the citizens. while she is doing this, she encounters different people with different situations.
What is chapter 7.
Supplies are running low in the makeshift hospital, and Cleo and Kate, a volunteer, go to announce a death of a person.

Cleo starts to recognize names who have died, and she goes back to her old school to see how things have progressed.
What is Chapter 19?
Cleo runs away from the hospital after finding out that Kate had died. Edmund looks for her and comforts her.
