When is 2010?
The first YMCA Emerging Multicultural Leadership Experience (EMLE) was held in 2010. It was a professional development and networking program for multicultural YMCA staff and was developed and hosted by graduates of the Multicultural Executive Development Institute (MEDI).
Many local YMCA associations partner with Y‑USA to provide staff with free access to this platform. This effort enables Y employees to pursue self‑paced learning, build new skills, and earn credits toward Y‑USA’s professional development requirements.
What are Linkdin Learnings?
These bi-monthly calls, open to all Y leaders to connect local ERGs from across the Y Movement to discuss local ERG best practices, upcoming events, and sharing of resources.
What are Local ERG connection calls?
This national program is designed to develop and advance multicultural staff into senior YMCA leadership roles.
What is MEDI?
This mentor program is revolving, self matching and are for ALL identities.
What is the Flash Mentoring Program?
These groups are staff‑led but connected nationally, allowing members to network, mentor, influence policy, and access leadership training. They serve as safe spaces and affinity communities for shared identities or experiences, but are inclusive and open to allies.
What are National ERG's?
This type of EMLE is a great way to convene local emerging leaders (especially part time leaders) around the common goal of serving multicultural communities.
What is a Regional EMLE?
This space centers on sharing and activating organizational GRACE leading practices, professional networking, and keeping local Y leaders connected to upcoming events, opportunities, and announcements.

What is We Wear Black?
Designed to support and grow leaders from different cultural and racial backgrounds. It helps staff build leadership skills, connect with mentors, and prepare for higher roles in the Y. The program includes training, networking, and personal development opportunities.

This 12 month mentoring program is for Multicultural identities and supports admin matching.
