What is the origin story for the phrase “Fight on!”

The phrase “Fight On!” and our nickname “Trojans” dates back to 1912 when a Los Angeles Times sportswriter described USC athletes as fighting like Trojans during a difficult track meet. The name stuck, and today we use “Fight On!” as a greeting, farewell, and rallying cry, often accompanied by the iconic V for Victory.
