Middle school: worry about their own death, have difficulty expressing feelings, react through behaviors such as school phobia, poor school performance, aggression, worry about who will take care of them, experience insecurity, fear of abandonment. High school: may act out in anger, experience a wide range of emotions and not know how to handle them, tension with family, humor as a defense mechanism, explosive reactions.
