This allows the students to meet the same expectations as their peers and learn the same material, using different methods
What is an accommodation?
A written plan that describes the special education program the student requires to demonstrate their learning, based on the assessments of their strengths and needs
What is an Individual Education Plan?
Additional time, use of visuals, use of manipulative, and alternative work location
What are examples of accommodations?
What a student is taught or expected to learn is altered to make what they are learning more accessible for them
What is an modification?
Can an IEP be changed once the teacher writes it?
The class may be required to study 20 words for a spelling test, a student with an IEP may only have to study 10 of those words
What are examples of modifications?
This box is NOT checked off if a student is receiving accommodations to assess their achievements with the regular curriculum
What is an IEP box on the report card?
When the student is 14 years old or older, the IEP must include this to assist them in moving onto postsecondary school, work, or community living
What is a transition plan?
EQAO only allows specific accommodations to be used that they permit. Modifications are not permitted for the EQAO assessment.
