How would you know BCC or a certain floor is on outbreak?
To know if a BCC or specific floor is on outbreak, you can check the outbreak information posted on the Home Page of PCC by the educator or designated staff. Additionally, a sign is displayed in the front lobby indicating which floor is on outbreak, along with the potential outbreak lift date. On each affected floor, outbreak posters are placed at the entrance from the elevator and at the nursing station, along with a designated PPE station.
If a resident is on Contact precautions, how would you know what type of PPE to wear?
To determine the appropriate PPE for a resident on Contact precautions, you can refer to the precautions poster posted on the resident's door. The poster will clearly indicate the specific type of PPE required for that particular resident’s care.
If a resident is displaying signs of infection often associated with an outbreak ( ex: runny nose and new cough) what would you do?
Isolate the resident in their room to prevent potential spread of infection.
Obtain the resident's vital signs and monitor for any other symptoms.
Notify the educator via email with all relevant details, including:
The day and time symptoms began
A list of the symptoms present
Any other pertinent observations
Inform the doctor to request a swab collection order for testing.
How does your home share information on infections? If a family member wanted information on the home's infection rates, where could they go?
