Patient says "I'm too old to have a mammogram", what could we teach her?
I understand your concerns, but you are never too old! Our doctors and the American College of Radiology recommend having a mammogram every year. Early detection is key to preventing future complications. As women get older, their chances of getting breast cancer increases, because the older you are the longer you have had your breasts. Most breast cancer occurs in women over the age of 40 and about half the women with breast cancer are 65 and older.
Enhanced Breast Cancer Detection Software can detect breast cancer up to 2 years before it's visible to the human eye. The Enhanced Breast Cancer Detection software acts as a second set of eyes, conducting an additional review of your exam results. This double-checking process enhances the accuracy of our diagnoses and provides an extra layer of assurance for you.

Patient says, "My Doctor says I don't need one or don't need to come annually", what could we teach her?
I know it can be confusing because there are many recommendations for mammography screening across the country. Our Radiologists here at RadNet follow the recommendation of the American College of Radiology who recommend annual screenings to detect abnormalities early in order to diagnose and treat breast cancer when it's in its earliest stages and most treatable. Unfortunately, breast cancer can develop even quicker than 1 year's time, even if you're not experiencing any symptoms. The best breast cancer detection you can get is through having an annual mammogram.

We never put pressure upon the implant during the exam. You can definitely still have a mammogram with a pacemaker/port/medical device. Our technologists will be extra careful with you.
