How does JKF create an EMOTIONAL APPEAL in the following paragraph from his Inauguration Address:
"In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to
service surround the globe."
He uses emotionally-charged diction like success, summoned, testimony, and loyalty. He also uses the imagery of young fallen soldiers sacrificing for their country ("graves of young Americans who answered the call") to make their sacrifice to their country arouse feelings of national pride and loyalty, while also making a historical reference to ALL of the wars Americans have fought in around the globe. This is all to rouse feelings of patriotism and honor, to emphasize that the future success of the country rests in the hands of its citizens--whether they be civilians or in the armed forces.
