Who goes to get an AED during a rescue?
A bystander or another rescuer.
Sinus Rhythm
Normal heartbeat. No Shock.
If the victim has a hairy chest or hard to remove clothes?
Use razor or scissors in the AED kit to shave their chest before applying the pads. Pads must be applied directly to their skin.

What does the shock of an AED do?
Restores the normal rhythm of the heart with an electric shock.
Where do the pads go on an adult?
Ventricular Tachycardia (VT)

Move them to a dry area and ensure you and they are dry.

When do you use an AED in first aid?
When victim is unconscious non-breathing.

No Shock Advised.
Medicine patches on their chest?
Remove them if they are in the way of the pads and wipe the area clean. Be careful not to touch the medication (Wear gloves).
