Was Columbus the only explorer during the Age of Exploration that believed the world was round? 

Why did Columbus think about the world at that time? 

Contrary to popular belief, most people including Columbus agreed that the world was indeed, round, not flat. However, Columbus believed the world to be much smaller than it really is. Therefore, Columbus reasoned he would quickly wrap around to Asia if he sailed west.
