Erik Erikson
When a child has a uncontrolled burst of anger and frustration, usually accompanied by screaming or crying.
A tantrum
A common strategy for child guidance that involves getting a child to focus their attention elsewhere.
Redirection
The second developmental stage that ranges from 18 months to 3 years, toddlers fall into this category.
Autonomy vs. Shame & Doubt
Hunger, frustration, and an inability to communicate their feelings can cause toddlers to react in this way.
Biting
Being aware of and taking precautions beforehand to not have negative behaviours or situations arise.
Prevention
The space between what a child can do on their own and what they are capable of with assistance from someone more knowledgable.
Zone of Proximal Development
A developmentally appropriate behaviour for toddlers which is often misinterpreted as negative behaviour.
The unwillingness to share items
When an adult purposefully doesn't acknowledge a child's behaviour in hopes of preventing future problem situations.
