When is your break if you are a part-time aide?
You don't get a scheduled break. You may take restroom breaks as needed, but otherwise you are expected to work with students and assist your teacher.

What time are you expected to be clocked in and at your work station?
7:45 unless you have a later start time. Some weeks you will need to be at work at 7:30. Please don't adjust your time clock to show you were on time when you were actually late.

How would you define "professionalism"?
Ethical interactions with peers, parents and students. Be on time, keep confidences and be ethical about clocking in and out and following the dress code.

Can you sub for another aide?
Yes, if it does not conflict with your general aide duties.

Who has the walkie talkies that you need to take to recess and why do you need them?
Terra at the front desk has them. They are for quick communication and if the front desk needs to have a child sent in for check out.

What if there is a line in the copy room to make copies?
If you need just a couple "emergency" copies, you can ask to interrupt a copy job to make the copies. If you are making class sets, come back later. Please don't stay in the copy room for 25 minutes waiting for your turn.

What are the elementary aide AM duties?
1. Assist with CARPOOL. 2. Playground monitoring. 3. Pod clean up, straighten up and shoo kids outside. 4. In class with your teacher.

Who is the "lead aide" on a team or in a department?
There is no lead aide. Work as a cohesive group.

How do you record "sub" hours?
Clock out of "aide" hours and clock in as a "sub". You do not "sub" when your teacher is in a meeting, doing DIBELS, at IEP's etc.

Where are the 4 aide "positions" on the playground?
Wood chip area. Lions' Den (distribute and collect equipment) Gate/driveway Back field

What are 2 things NOT allowed by the employee dress code?
Flip flops, colored jeans (ever), jeggings, leggings (with tunic tops), yoga pants, sweats, short skirts or shorts (no more than 2" above the knee), low cut blouses, see through tops.

What types of assistance will you give your teacher (s)?
Work with small groups or individual students. Help with classroom management. Make copies, grade student work.

Who gets the sub if you (the aide) are going to be absent?
It is the aide's responsibility to secure a sub.

What is the youngest grade allowed to play on the "monkey bars" and hang by their arms?
4th. No one is allowed to be on the TOP of the play equipment. Or stand on the bars at all.

What is the main discipline plan for the school?
Love and Logic. You will receive training tomorrow and each month thereafter. It is expected that you will follow as much Love and Logic as you are trained to do.

What 7:30 AM duties will be assigned to elementary aides?
Breakfast and crosswalk at the northwest corner of the school property. Assigned unless some brave souls step forward to take on the duty for the year.

What is the most "minimal" part of your job?
Grading papers and making copies.

10. If you miss more than 10 days, we will have a conversation.

What is the biggest "no-no" that aides do while on recess duty?
Clump together to chat and be on their phones and NOT watch children.

What is the cell phone policy while at work?
Stay off your phone. In the classroom, on the playground, in the lunchroom. Just don't do it. Please don't take calls while working. Don't text. Just don't do it.
