Distinguishing the Era
Not considering our own standards, but from God's perspective, what does it look like to do well in faith?

In what kind of book is the Bible part 1, we went over four writers who lived in different time periods, faced different circumstances, and never met one another. But they all pointed towards Jesus. Who were these four prophets?
1. Moses
2. David
3. Isaiah
4. Zechariah
There are 66 books in the Bible, which can be divided into two main parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. What does the word "Testament" mean?
Promise!
Isaiah 14:24 says "The Lord Almighty has sworn, "Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.
What does this verse say about God's work?
God gives prophecy about his work before he fulfills it, so people will believe and be saved.
There are two realms God created in Genesis 1:1. What are those two realms?
Spiritual realm (Heaven) and the Physical Realm (earth)
Who does God usually make a covenant with? Any verse that can support this?
His chosen people (Ps 89:3)
Who is the author of the bible? Add a verse that supports this.
God (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Why are there an Old Testament and a New Testament? What happened to the Old Testament?
It is because the Old Testament was broken. God's chosen people did not accept Jesus.
In (Genesis 15:13-14) God made a covenant with Abraham. What were the three main points of this covenant?
1. Strangers in a country not their own
2. Enslaved for 400 years
3. Come out with possessions and descendants
Who is God according to the Bible? Add verses if able to.
1. God is spirit (Jn 4:24)
2. God is the Creator (Gen 1:1)
3. God is self-existent (Ex 3:14)
4. God created angels (Ps 103:20-22)
There is a different promise in each era. What promises did God make in the time of Adam, Noah, Moses, and the prophets?
1. Not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
2. Get on the ark
3. Leave Egypt; keep the 10 Commandments
4. Wait for the Messiah

The prophets in the Old Testament were all pointing towards Jesus, what verse says "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."
Luke 24:44
Abraham wasn't able to see this covenant fulfilled, however, two of his descendants helped fulfill these promises. Which two descendants were present to fulfill the promise, and how were they able to do it?
Joseph- Through interpreting Pharaoh's dream and helping manage the storehouse of food so the Israelites would come to Egypt for food.
Moses- through leading God's people out of Egypt.
Who is Satan according to the bible? Add verses if able to.
An angel God created that was good, but arrogance and greed entered his heart making him evil. (Isa 14:12-15)
Angels who sinned and willingly chose to leave their position of authority. (2 Pet 2:4 and Jd 1:6)
What was the promise believers had to keep at the time of the first coming?
Believing in Jesus and following him (Rom 1:2-4 and Rom 2:28-29)
At the first coming only 12 out of an entire nation accepted Jesus. Why?
It was because the Jews did not correctly understand prophecy.
Those who persecuted Jesus were believers. Why couldn't the Pharisees accept Jesus?
They did not understand prophecy or believe that Jesus was the fulfilment 1 Corinthians 2:6-9.
Give an example of two prophecies that Jesus fulfilled at the First Coming. Add reference verses if possible! (There are many examples we've gone over, so you can use any example from our previous lessons.)
Passover lamb (Ex 12:46 -> 1 Cor 5:7)
Jesus Crucified and casting lots (Ps 22:12-18 -> Jn 19:23-24)
Jesus born of a virgin (Isa 7:14 -> Mt 1:18-23)
Jesus riding on a donkey (Zech 9:9-10 -> Mt 21:1-5)
Jesus born in Bethlehem (Mic 5:2 -> Lk 2:1-7)
Jesus comes out of Egypt (Hos 11:1 -> Mt 2:1-6)
After understanding how these two kinds of spirits work, where do they work at and what do they use to do their work?
Both spirits are working in God's temple (2 Thess 2:4)
The spirits work through the flesh: false pastors or true pastors
What are examples of some of the promises we have to keep today?
1. Prepare Wedding Clothes (Mt 22:11-14)
2. Flee to the mountains (Mt 24:15-16)
3. Prepare our lamp and oil (Mt 25:1-3)
4. Do not receive the mark of the beast (Rev 13:16-18)
5. Do not drink the maddening wine (Rev 18:2-3)
We need to understand prophecy to recognize and accept its fulfillment!
After the first covenant was broken, God made a new covenant in Hebrews 8:7-8. What made this New Covenant different? What happens if you keep the covenant or don't keep it?
You don't have to be God's people by lineage; you become so by believing and receiving Jesus (John 1:12-13). Those who keep the covenant are blessed (Rev 1:3), and those who do not are thrown into the fiery lake (Rev 21:8)
Which New Testament prophecies will be fulfilled at the Second Coming? What happens to those who obey God's commands and those who are unbelieving?
How do we make sure we're obeying God's commands?
God will be with his people (Rev 21:3)
Obey God's Commands = Heaven
Unbelieving = Fiery lake of Burning Sulfur
WE must know the prophecies of the New Testament for our time and keep them
What is the difference between a false pastor and a true pastor? What kind of words do they speak? What happens to the believers who listen to these words?
False pastors are used by Satan and speak lies (Jn 8:44)
True pastors are used by God and speak about prophecy and fulfillment (Jn 14:6, Luke 24:27,32,44)
Believers who listen to false pastors follow the path of hell, but believers who listen to true pastors follow the path to heaven.
