MLA Formatting
All academic papers, in ENGL classes, should follow this set of rules.

What is alphabetical order?
When summarizing, it is okay to use some of the author's words.
Incorrect. It should be written in your own words. Use the author's words sparingly, only when necessary, when they are important to the meaning and difficult to replace accurately.
Summaries in the rhetorical reading response should be written in present tense.

What are long works (books, movies, and series) and what are short works (stories, episodes, poems, and articles)?

Information that is widely known and easily verified usually does not require a citation.

Citing a long source that supports your claim (even if it 4+ lines) is effective
Incorrect.
In our class, it is best NOT integrate long quotes (a.k.a block quotes). Use the most important part of the quote, preferably 1 line, to support your ideas.

What are parentheses?
This is what you should do when a source has no page numbers.
