work within STEM departments to offer one-on-one tutoring support to all students

What is the role of a Peer Mentor?

participate in faculty-sponsored research, live & work with our STEM Academy over the summer, and serve as Mentors to first-year & incoming transfer STEM Scholars throughout the academic year.

What is the difference between a STEM Scholar & STEM Explorer?

STEM Scholar: Student who participated in the STEM Academy and/or PAL, receives 'bonus services'

STEM Explorer: Any STEM Major student, access to services but limited

What is the role of a Supplemental Instruction Leaders?

work within historically difficult gateway STEM courses. They provide support & guidance for excelling in these difficult classes through high-impact practices, while planning their own sessions.

What is the role of a Student Worker?

They provide administrative support to our team, help students at the front desk, set up workshops, manage Social Media, manage ALLIES emails, look & share opportunities available for students, create marketing materials, etc.

Who can attend STEM Academy?

  • Students who are admitted to Cal Lutheran for the Fall 2021 (Freshmen and Transfer)
  • Students who are currently a Sophomore or Junior in High School
  • Students who are currently a Senior in High School and will be attending a Community College Fall 2021
  • Students who are currently enrolled at a Community College and are not yet transferring
