What are the four tissue types?

Connective, muscular, epithelial, nervous

The ability to walk addresses which of the necessary life functions?

movement

100

What are the two subsets of the skeleton? (hint: They both start with a)

axial and apendicular

What is the anatomical position?

body position in which you are standing up head straight and hand by your side with your hands facing forward
200

Which Tissue type do all sub categories contain a cellular matrix, that is specialized to support, bind together and protect organs. Some examples include (bone and blood).

Connective

200

Two zygotes fusing and undergoing rapid cell development is the first stage of which necessary function of life?

Reproduction

What are Collagen Fibers?

strong, fibrous protein that functions as extracellular strucutral element in connective tissue.

What does ATP stand for? and what does it do?

Adenosine Triphosphate; stores energy and allows for the completion of chemical reactions in the body.

300

what are the primary functions of the bone...explain.

Support, protection, movement, storage, blood cell formation

Your heel is _____________ to your toes and ___________to your calf

Posterior and inferior

The Epithelium is characterized by having a structure of cells closely knit with little to no gaps, forming a sheet of cells. Explain why it might be important for epithelial tissue to take on this form.

Epithelial tissue is used for protection and to line all of the organs. It can only perform its task as a barrier properly if there are no gaps in the tissue that would prevent this tissue type from being able to protect the other organs.

Compare and contrast Hyper and hypotonic

Hypotonic: the concentration of solutes is greater inside the cell than outside

Hypertonic: the concnetration of the solute is greater outside the cell than inside.

What are joints and why are they important

Allow for movement of the appendicular and axial skeleton. Occurs where two bones meet. Takes on several forms depending on the location and function needed to be performed. An example is the hinge joint which can be found in your knee. This allows for flexion and extension In order for this to occur it is covered in cartilage that allows the joint to move smoothly and securely

what organ is superior to the diaphragm, and intermediate to the ribs.

Heart
