Movement and heat
What is Muscular Tissue?
Formed by strands of transmembrane proteins on outer surface/ Prevent leaks/ Found in epithelial tissue of the GI tract and bladder?
What is Tight Junctions?
Simple (single), Stratified (multiple), Pseudostratified (appears to be multiple, but is only single)-I belong to a classification of epi
What is the Number of Layers of Epi?
Sheets lining or covering body parts or dividing layers of tissue
What is Membranes?
Strong (high tensile strength), but flexible- FIBER
What is Collagen Fibers?
Oversees bodily functions & Generates action potential
What is Nervous Tissue?
Allows for movement of ion, nutrients, and waste/ Communication among cells-chemical and electrical signals/ Coordination of cardiac muscle/ Made of Connexons
What is Gap Junctions?
Secretes hormones, Ductless, Secreted directly into the bloodstream
What is Endocrine Glands?
Lines cavities that don't open up to the external environment, cover organs/ Visceral layer (lines organs)/ Parietal layer (lines the cavity)
What is Serous Membranes?
Contact points between plasma membrane of cells
What is Cell Junctions?
Protects, supports, and binds organs/ Fat storage, immunity, and transport as well
What is Connective Tissue?
Prevent separation under tension on epidermal and cardiac muscle cells/ Also contain plaque and cadherins
What is Desmosomes?
Secretions-mucus, sweat, oil, enzymes/ have a duct/ Secreted onto a surface or into the lumen of a hollow organ
What is Exocrine Glands?
Line airways, digestive tract, and reproductive passages/ Lubricates the surface and aids in protection
What is Mucous Membranes?
Form a network that provide support- FIBER
What is Reticular Fibers?
Covers body surfaces and lines hollow organs, cavities, and ducts/ Form glands
What is Epithelial Tissue?
Anchor cells to basement membrane/ Integrins attach to intermediate filaments and the laminin in the basement membrane
What is Hemidesmosomes?
Squamous (flat), Cuboidal (cube like), Columnar (long and thin), Transitional ( Rounded; changes shape)- I belong to a classification of epi
What is Shape of Epi?
Skin/ Epidermis-Keratinized stratified squamous epi/ Dermis-areolar and dense irregular CT
What is Cutaneous Membrane?
Secreting portion of glands
What is Glandular Epi?
Epithelial, Connective, Muscular, and Nervous-All belong to what?
What is Tissue Types?
Resist separation of cells when the tissues contract/ Plaque (Dense layer of proteins on the inside of the plasma membrane/ Cells joined together via cadherins?
What is Adherens Junctions?
Outer covering of skin and some organs and inner lining of blood vessels, ducts, and body cavities
What is Covering and Lining Epi?
Lines shoulder, hip and knee joints/ Secretes synovial fluid to lubricate and nourish cartilage in joint
What is Synovial Membranes?
Strong and stretchy- Returns to original shape- FIBER
What is Elastic Fibers?
