Usually generally thin but usually provide protective functions

divides the body into equal right and left halves
what is Median Plane?
Have complex shapes therefore cannot be classified as long, short or flat bones

3 imaginary perpendicular reference planes that divide the body in half by mass
what is Cardinal planes?
Develop in tendons and are small round bones found in hands, knees, feet plus they protect tendons from stress and wear
