Who was King Tut? Where was he buried after he died? 

Tutankhamun, or King Tut. He was only nine years old when he became pharaoh. He died when he was just 19 years old. Unlike other pharaohs who were buried in a pyramid after passing, King Tut was buried in the valley of the kings. He was buried in a tomb.  His tomb was filled with his jewels and treasures.

Amon was considered the most important god in ancient Egypt because he was the god of the sun. It was said that he created everything including the other gods and goddesses. Without Amon, it was believed that there wouldn’t have been any life.

The ziggurat is a tall pyramid-shaped structure. The temple is at the top point of the structure. Only the kind and the priests were allowed to go up there, but anyone could visit the lower or base of the tower.

This was a story to explain how everything came to be. From the sun to the stars and moon, to the humans and animals on the earth. Egyptians believed that everything on earth serve a purpose that is also spiritual.

Tradition said that the pharaoh had to be male not female. Egyptians felt strongly that rules and laws should not be changed. So even though the people of Egypt believed she was a powerful leader, they believed only a male could be a pharaoh.

What did we learn about the, “Beautiful West”?

The ancient Egyptians believed that when someone died, he or she would travel to the Beautiful West. The Egyptians would pray to the god of Osiris and the goddess Iris so that they could have a safe journey to the, “Beautiful West.” They believed that there was an afterlife after death.

Why were the Euphrates and Tigris River important to the people in Mesopotamia?

People traveled in boats up and down the rivers to trade. They would exchange goods across cities. They traded things like materials to make clothing, crops, and other important items needed for survival. Both rivers were essential for the people of Mesopotamia because they used them to grow their crops.

The Sphinx is designed to have the body of a lion and the head of a man. The Sphinx was built by Pharaoh Khufu’s son, Pharaoh Khafre. Just like his father, he wanted everyone to know how powerful he was, so he had a massive and impressive structure built for him.

Ramadan is a month-long period during which Muslims fast. That means the Muslim do not eat for a certain period of time. For a whole month, the Muslims do not eat or drink from sunup to sundown. Then, Muslims have a big celebration at the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is the holiest month of the year for Muslims.

Why did Hatshepsut declare herself a man and dress like a man?

Hatshepsut was fed up with doing all of the work without being able to become pharaoh. She decided she would become a leader. She thought that by acting like a man, perhaps she would be given the opportunity to be a pharaoh.

Why was The Great Pyramid built?

The Great Pyramid was built as a burial place for Pharaoh Khufu. He wanted it to be the largest and most beautiful pyramid to show how powerful he was. He coated the point of the pyramid with gold pointing to the sun to show his respect for god Amon-Ra

Their form of writing is called hieroglyphs and they represent words that we say. These symbols stand for words, sort of like how our letters are symbols that stand for sounds that make words.

How is the Great Sphinx the same/different to the Great Pyramid?

They are both built for a pharaoh, they are both large, tall and famous structures. However, The Great Sphinx was not a burial place whereas The Great Pyramid was a place for burial. The Great Sphinx was built to protect the pyramid and so he would be remembered. The pyramid is shaped like a pyramid with a base, four triangular sides, and a point. The Great Sphinx is built to look like half man half lion.
