The ancient olympics honored Zeus, Modern olympics does not. Only men could participate in the Ancient Olympics but men and women can participate in the Modern Olympics. The Ancient Olympics were held in Greece but the Modern Olympics are held all around the world. The athletes of the Ancient Olympics were expected to be naked but in the Modern Olympics athletes are expected to wear clothes.

They were close to the water so they were able to travel to other city-states or countries. They were close to the water so they were able to trade with other city-states or countries for resources that they needed. Since they were close to the water, they were expert sailors, fisherman, etc. The moderate temperatures supported an outdoor life for many Greek citizens.

They lacked many natural resources. Mountains covered 3/4 of the land so it forced Greece to develop into city-states because it separated much of the land. The terrain made land transportation difficult. About 20% of the land is arable or suitable for farming so it limited the amount of food for the population.

How did the lives of men, women, and slaves in Athens differ?
Men: They were given complete freedom. They would work and socialize in the agora during the day. They were allowed to participate in the government and own land. Women: They had no freedom. They were expected to stay in the house all day and complete household duties. They were not allowed to participate in the government or own land. Slaves: They had no freedom. Male slaves would work on farms, in mines, in shops, construction sites while female slaves would be expected to work in the home. Slaves could sometimes earn money and in rare instances they could buy their freedom. Slaves were not allowed to participate in government or own land.
