Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus. Crassus died in battle against the Parthians, then Civil War began when Caesar went against the Senate and crossed the Rubicon River. This resulted in Pompey going into battle against Caesar. Pompey and Caesar fought in northern Greece. Pompey was defeated.

Name the three leaders in the second triumvirate.  Why did they collapse?

 

The Second Triumvirate was formed between Octavian, Mark Antony, and Lepidus. Lepidus was exiled from the Triumvirate when he tried to take Octavian’s legions. Antony and Octavian each wanted to control the Roman Empire. They became rivals. Octavian defeated Antony in a sea battle off the coast of southwest Greece. Antony and Cleopatra killed themselves instead of facing defeat.
