Why did Augustus make a lot of Rome's buildings out of marble?
This was a planned out move to show that his empire was rich, stable and strong, to make people feel as if they were entering a new era of peace and to act as advertisements of his leadership. Augustus convinced Rome that the Republic was gone, and the Empire was just getting started.
