Mechanism of Action for Predex.
Exerts its hypnotic action through the activation of central pre- and postsynaptic a2-receptors in the locus coeruleus, thereby inducing a state of unconsciousness similar to natural sleep with the unique aspect that patients remain easily rousable and cooperative.
Dosage for Adult Patients of Induction of General Anesthesia.
•Patients <55 y/o at 1.5 to 2.5 mg/kg. The total dose required can be reduced by lower rates of administration (20 to 50 mg/min).
•In patients >55 y/o, requirements will be generally less.
