What is equity?
These are a set of goals/achievements that teachers hope will come out of a well-done assignment. These should be the main basis for grading writing assignments.
This is the empowering of multiple viewpoints and lived experiences. It is NOT diversity or multiculturalism, but instead is the conscious sharing of responsibilities, the outcome of which is a shared sense of belonging among disparate groups of people
What is Inclusion?
This is a type of alternative assignment that has students use narration and multimodal devices such as video, sound, animation, etc to create effective arguments
What is Digital Storytelling?
This is defined as external display of internalized racism by any group. Sometimes called unconscious bias or bystander racism
What is Interpersonal Racism?
These should count for no more than 10% of the grade of any essay, and can even not be counted in the grade for more linguistic equity
What are grammar and mechanics?
Unlike Code Switching, this is the blending of SAE with other, more natural versions of English
What is code-meshing?
This is the result of all outside racisms is an inability to escape the racist constructs of the world we live in. As a result, people of color often unconsciously believe the racism that they encounter and/or act outwardly racist to people of their own race
What is Internalized Racism?
This is defined as giving students real-world experience applying what they learn in a course to an outside organization, usually a charity, where they are learning through experience and while also giving back..
