Native Americans moved in on the NE settlers and tried to push them back from the west. Failed and the NE settlers ended up gaining more land.

Took over the presidency during the 50's-60's after a certain good looking president was killed. Wasn't too big on Civil Rights, but non-the-less signed them into effect. Wanted a picture perfect society. A "great" one, if you will.
