Compromise Tariff of 1833

Peggy-Eaton Affair/Petticoat Affair
Peggy’s first husband died and she remarried Secretary of War John Eaton. She was a social outcast because she didn’t wait the proper amount of mourning time. Jackson’s cabinet was divided into factions, and the controversy finally resulted in the resignation of almost all members of the Cabinet.
