The movement which lead to the formation of the NAACP
What is The Niagara Movement? The NAACP was founded in 1909 as a result of the Niagara Movement, which was led by W. E. B. Du Bois and others who met in Niagara, New York, in 1905. The movement took a more militant approach to solving the problems of racism than the gradualist policies of Booker T. Washington’s Afro-American Council.
