Medications Brought into the Hospital by Patients or their Families?
To protect the safety of the patient and the quality of care provided, medications used by patients will be provided by the UCSF Medical Center. The use of a patient’s own medication from home is prohibited unless deemed medically necessary.

Only the emergency code cart and items in use are permitted in the hallway. Items in use include a PPE cart while a patient is in isolation, lift equipment, meal trays (while meals are being passed). Equipment plugged into an outlet or stored in the hallway is not permitted.

How is the temperature monitored for medications stored at UCSF Medical Center?
Medications stored at room temperature are monitored 24/7 for temperature control via the electronic temperature monitoring system. Areas not supported by the electronic monitoring system have the temperature monitored and recorded manually once daily.
