Can I wear zebra sweatpants to my tour guide shift?
All bottoms should be neutral colored (tan/black/white)
Sally and I are both working desk, She said she would cover for me so I can go take a 30min nap.
Is this appropriate?
NO! Both scheduled tour guides should be alive, awake, and alert BEHIND desk. You should only leave desk to take bathroom breaks or to restock.
I have allergies and a runny nose.
Excused or Unexcused absence?
Unexcused.
An absence for a non-acute medical service does not constitute an excused absence.
What is the proper term for housing options on campus?
Residence Hall!

How long should my skirt be if I want to wear it during my shift?
All skirts should be at least finger tip length.
I over scheduled myself and have an interview and a desk shift. The lead team said I could step out for my 15 min interview.
Should I stay clocked in or clock out?
If you are away for more than 10 min and have PRE APPROVAL from the lead team clock out and re clock in when you get back.
If I fall deathly ill the day of my shift and cannot physically come in what do I do??
NOTIFY THE LEAD TEAM at least 2 hours prior to the shift. The sooner you let us know the better.
If a parent ask how much ______ cost what should you tell them?
-Refer them to the housing brochure
-Tell them it is included in their tuition
NEVER give them specific pricing!
Do I have to wear my name tag?
YES! You should wear the NEW name tag while on shift!
My desk partner never showed up for their shift, so I have to do double the work. I do not want to get them in trouble.
What do I do?
Tell the Lead Team! We will take care of it without bringing you into the conversation!
I won last minute concert tickets and need someone to cover my shift what are the steps? (Fill in steps)
1) Drop the shift in W2W, and post on Coverage Channel
2) Check the On-Call doc, contact other Tour Guides
3) Alert the Lead Team if coverage is needed within 48 hours
4) If nobody is able to cover, you do not get to go to the concert
If a guest ask "Which is the WORST residence hall to live in on campus?" how should you respond?
Try to keep the conversation positive, do NOT talk negatively about any of the Residence Halls.
"Each Residence hall has it own unique benefits and history"
It is a cold 73 degrees outside. Too cold to wear just the polo and work pants.
What can I do to stay warm?
A neutral long sleeved undershirt can be worn under your issued polo, or your issued jacket!
Bob has hot tea to tell me but I am working desk.

C) Tell Bob to meet me when I get off to catch me up?

There should never been anyone "extra" behind the desk. If you have to talk to them talk through the Plexi glass or save it for later.
My class got cancelled and I have an hour to kill before my shift, can I clock in to log an extra hour?
No. Tour Guides cannot clock in more than 15 minutes before their shift unless preapproved by the Lead Team.
What type of security is in place for the first floor of balcony?
What is the difference between Key and Card access?
Balcony has a security patrol that is separate from UPD [not exclusive to balcony]
Key: Unlocks the door
Card Access: Security into the Residence Halls and stairways
My dog ate my polo what do I do?
There are extra polos in the NS tours office!
Let us know if we need to order you a new one!
The desk is a mess but I didn't do it. What should I do?
Clean it up, if everyone helps keep the desk tidy this should be a non issue.
If the staff meeting is in Hullabaloo, and you just got off at 5 in Hullabaloo, can you clock the time until the meeting starts?
No. You cannot clock in the travel/transition time if you are at the location that the meeting takes place.
