Vocabulary
This is the amount of space on the inside of a figure. To find this, you can count up square units on the inside of a figure, or multiply length times width in a rectangle or square.

A rectangle has a length of 6 cm and a width of 4 cm. What is the area?
6 x 4 = 24 cm
A triangle has side lengths of 15 cm, 12 cm, and 10 cm. What is it's perimeter?
15 + 12 + 10 = 37 cm
A square has an area of 36 centimeters. What are the side lengths?
6 cm
Justin needs to find the perimeter of his rectangular pool so he knows how many tiles to put around the edge. It's length is 20 feet and a width of 5 feet. What is the perimeter of the pool?
20 + 20 + 5 + 5 = 50 feet
