What is logos?
We cannot listen to John's opinion about global warming because he is a known tree-hugger
What is ad hominem?
Facts, statistics, and expert information used to support a claim
What is evidence?
The veterinarian says an Australian Shepherd is a good pet for a family with an active lifestyle
What is ethos?
Basketball star Klay Thompson drinks chocolate milk, so it must be a nutritious drink
What is false authority?
Investigation of a topic to find new information, establish facts, or reach a new conclusion
What is research?
Her parents will be heartbroken if she decides to take a job in another state
What is pathos?
The coach of one sport at a local high school mismanaged funds; therefore, all high school sports should be disbanded
What is hasty generalization?
Prejudice or one-sided information, often unfairly in favor of one side
What is bias?
The ASPCA ad shows a shivering puppy in need of a good home
For many generations the family has been going to their cabin in the mountains to celebrate Christmas, so we will be going there this year also

Reasoning based on principles or valid information
What is logic?
Decreasing calories and increasing exercise can lead to a healthy lifestyle

White seems to be the color for the prom this year. All of my friends have already bought white dresses, so I guess I will be shopping for a white dress this weekend
