The appeal to logic. When facts or statistics are used to support an author's claims.
What is logos?
This part of your essay should include a hook, background information, and end with your thesis statement.
What is an introduction?
The order an author or speaker lists their claims and evidence.
What is line of reasoning?
The appeal to emotion. When an author or speaker tries to make the audience feel happy, sad, angry, or makes them laugh. They also might try to connect to/ relate with their audience.
What is Pathos?
This part of your essay should include a topic sentence, evidence, and reasoning. There should be one for each reason listed in your thesis.
What is a body paragraph?
When an author only tells us one side of the argument.
What is bias?
The appeal to credibility. How an author builds their audience's trust by listing their education, experience in the field, or citing other reliable sources.
What is ethos?
This part of your essay should restate your thesis, sum up main ideas presented, and end with a question or statement that leaves the audience thinking.
What is a conclusion?
When an author tells us the opposing side of the argument.
What is a counter-argument?
This sentence starts with a claim and ends with 2-3 reasons. It is what you are trying to prove throughout your essay.
What is a thesis statement?
