Grounding coping skills get us out of our heads (negative thoughts) and into the present moment/reality and out bodies where those problems aren't present. Use your nose/smell- candles, soap, fragrance. Touch- squeeze pillow, stuffed animal, pet. Ears/Listen- music, conversations, tv. Taste- gum, snack, drink. Eyes- name things, watch movies/shows.
