The consequence(s) when a student has an unexcused absence that day.
- Parent phone call home
- After school detention
- Recurring daily unexcused absences will result in truancy
Defined by missing 10% or more of school days.
What is chronic truancy.
What a tardy student MUST have in hand before being able to enter class.
What is a pass from the front office?
When a student is more than 30 minutes late unexcused to a class or when they miss an entire class period.
What is a truancy event?
The consequence(s) when a student hits 2nd truancy.
Possible answers:
- 2nd truancy letter sent home
- Attendance improvement plan
A plan to support the student in finding strategies to address attendance issues
What is an attendance improvement plan?
The number of minutes at which point a tardy becomes an absence.
What is 30 mins?
The attendance category defined by a student having 3 unexcused absences (not on the same day).
What is 1st truancy?
The consequence when a student hits 3rd truancy.
Permissible responses:
- 3rd truancy letter sent home
- Parent meeting with Melissa or SPEC team rep
The person on campus who oversees attendance interventions and supports including meeting with students and families in 2nd truancy.
Who is Melissa Iglesias
The number of minutes a student is late at which point the front office will require the student to call home and explain why they are late.
What is 15 minutes?
When a student has reduced the number of unexcused absences to any given class by 20%.
What is improved attendance?
The consequence for a student who is severely chronically absent.

- The student may face involuntary withdrawal.
Who should attend a SART meeting?
Who are the student, parent, advisor, grade level counselor, grade level admin. Bonus: SPED CM (if applicable), any other adults or peers that can support student w/attendance?
