QUIETLY. To assigned seat and read the board for the 5 minute drawing prompt. You may start drawing.

Scribbling or hurrying through the project. Art isn't a race, you do a better job if you take your time, that is considered craftsmanship.

Engaged. Listen and ask questions during instruction. Work on your project when it is time. Help clean up.
What do you do if you need to go to the bathroom during art?
Ask the teacher. If she says yes, take the bathroom pass and put it on your table. Go to the bathroom by the gym. When you get back, return the pass.

If someone asks you do draw something for them on their project should you?
No. Instead you can show them how to draw it in their sketchbook. If you draw it for them, they are not learning.
When we are working on a project and you are missing something, what should you do?
Several options: Ask a classmate where you get the supplies, go get it yourself, or ask the teacher. DO NOT just sit there and wait for the teacher to notice.
What kind of art does Mrs. Engelbert like to do in her free time?
Paint, draw with pencil, draw with iPad, Photoshop, tufting, and quilting.
If you are struggling with a project, what is one thing you can do to get help?
Ask a classmate, ask to look something up on your Chromebook, ask Mrs. E. for help, use a how to draw book, etc.

Many answers: Walk, keep hands and feet to yourself, don't throw things, if you spill something clean it up, etc.

This is her 32 year teaching art. This is year 30 in West Des Moines.
When is the only time you are allowed to trace?
When you are tracing something you made. You may not trace someone else's artwork or photo.

Push your chair in, walk to the line, single file, face forward, voice at level 0/silent.

Respect. Respect the teacher, classmates, and materials.

Once every 4 days for 50 minutes. (Wednesdays are 45 minute classes)
What is the one thing Mrs. Engelbert doesn't like to hear you say when working on a project? Why?
"I can't do it." Because I can't means you aren't even going to try. It's better to say "I am having trouble and need help."

Why is creativity important even if you don't want to be an artist when you grow up?
Creativity is important in most jobs you will have and you will go further if you can think outside the box and come up with new ideas or new ways of doing things.
