Because they are the foundation for visual art. The are essential for you to know and learn how to use so you have the tools needed for making art. You can build upon this knowledge and progress to more advanced projects!

Learning: presentations/videos up front, you will be following along with an art worksheet/activity. Project: demonstrations, independent work at tables + music!

Explain what kneading is and what scoring is.

Kneading- getting the clay ready to build with, you squish it, warm it up, get the air bubbles out so things do not explode!

Scoring- scratching lines on two pieces of clay, then adding water to join them, prevents things from breaking apart from one another in the kiln!

What is Impressionism? Describe what an artwork from this movement might look like. 

A painting movement originating in France in the 1860s, characterized by a concern with depicting the visual impression of the moment, especially in terms of the shifting effect of light and color. Painters painted outdoors or 'en plen air'. 

Paintings from this movement were very colorful and textured. They weren't as detailed or defined as artists were more concerned with light and expression.

Lockdown: Emergency outside of the school. Need to shelter in place. Stay calm, listen to the teacher's directions: Be silent/hide. Teacher will ensure that door is locked. 

Intruder: Dangerous outsider has entered the building and could be a threat. Stay calm, listen to the teacher's directions: RUN, HIDE, FIGHT
