•Yes. If the parent chooses not to participate in person or by other methods. The school must keep record of its attempts to arrange a mutually agreed upon date, time, and place for the meeting.

Why does Ohio have a 60-calendar day timeline and Indiana have a 50-day timeline?
Ohio follows the federal IDEA timeline and Indiana aets its own state rule (Article 7) if 50 school days from parent consent. IDEA allows states to set their own timelines as long as they align with federal law. Indiana chose a stricter deadline than Ohio

What is an IEE and when would one occur?
Independent Educational Evaluation. An outside evaluation by a qualified examiner not employed by the school. Parents may request an IEE if they disagree with the school’s evaluation. Parents get one IEE at public expense per evaluation, and the school must consider the results.
