WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ASSESSMENT?
DIAGNOSIS, INTERVENTION, TREATMENT PLANNING
CAN YOU DIAGNOSE SOMEONE BASED ON TEST DATA ONLY?
NO!! Need to have met with them (clinical interview)

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RELIABILITY & VALIDITY (DEFINE EACH)

DISCUSS ETHICS OF STORING TEST DATA
Psychologists make reasonable efforts to maintain the integrity and security of test materials and other assessment techniques. (Don't be dumb)
WHAT IS THE GAI, & WHEN DO WE USE IT?
GENERAL ABILITY INDEX (VCI & PRI) - USE IT WHEN HIGHEST AND LOWEST INDEXES ARE 23+ DIFFERENCE & SO WE'RE UNABLE TO USE THE FSIQ.
WHAT TYPE OF SCORE IS USED ON THE MCMI? WHAT IS INTERPRETABLE?
Base Rate = 75 and above
A MEASURE CAN BE (reliable/valid) WITHOUT BEING (reliable/valid), BUT CANNOT BE (reliable/valid) WITHOUT BEING (reliable/valid)
A MEASURE CAN BE RELIABLE WITHOUT BEING VALID, BUT CANNOT BE VALID WITHOUT BEING RELIABLE.
WHAT CONFIDENCE LEVEL/CRITICAL VALUE DO WE USE IN ASSESSMENT?
95% & .05
CONFIDENCE LEVEL - CONSISTS OF A RANGE OF VALUES THAT ACT AS GOOD ESTIMATES OF THE POPULATION PARAMETER...I.E.,YOU CAN BE 95% CERTAIN
WHAT DO YOU DO IF THE PERSON YOU ARE TESTING IS ESL?
ASSESS LEVEL OF ENGLISH COMPREHENSION/FLUENCY/EDUCATION. IF NOT SUFFICIENT, NEED TO UTILIZE A CERTIFIED INTERPRETER, IF POSSIBLE LOCATE THE TEST IN THEIR PREFERRED LANGUAGE.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NORMATIVE & PERSONAL STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES?
PERSONAL=RELATIVE TO EXAMINEE'S OTHER SCORES
NORMATIVE= RELATIVE TO COMPARISON TO OTHERS OF SIMILAR AGE
WHAT TYPE OF SCORE IS USED ON THE MMPI? WHAT IS AN INTERPRETABLE SCORE?
T Score = 65 and above
WHAT TWO TYPES OF VALIDITY ARE THE SAME?
DIVERGENT AND DISCRIMINANT
DEFINE PROJECTIVE VS OBJECTIVE TESTS
OBJECTIVE: STANDARDIZED SCORE AND INTERPRETATION (WAIS, MMPI, MCMI)
PROJECTIVE: NON-STANDARDIZED, SUBJECTIVE INTERPRETATION (TAT, SC)
WHO CAN REQUEST ACCESS TO THE RAW DATA ASIDE FROM THE ASSESSOR?
NO ONE!

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES, STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF MMPI AND MCMI
Differences: MCMI is full personality profile, MMPI is specific symptomology. MCMI normed on CLINICAL population, MMPI normed on NON-CLINICAL population.
MCMI strengths: Shorter, scale names correlate to DSM personality diagnoses (BUT THIS DOESN'T MEAN THATS WHAT THEY HAVE)
MCMI weaknesses: normed on clinical population, NAME OF SCALE DOES NOT EQUAL DIAGNOSIS
MMPI strength: Highly reliable and valid, normed on general population, symptoms correlate to DSM criteria.
MMPI weaknesses: Long.
WHAT KIND OF CORRELATION (POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE) DOES CONVERGENT VALIDITY ESTABLISH?
TRICK! IT CAN BE BOTH!
