What is a vertical asymptote and what is an exception to having a vertical asymptote?
A vertical asymptote is when the denominator equals zero or x=something. If there is a hole at a certain point then the asymptote does not exist.

What is a horizontal asymptote and what are three ways using the degrees you can tell what the horizontal asymptote is?
- When x approaches infinity
- y= something
Look at the degrees:
Numerator exponent is bigger= then it is none
Numerator exponent is smaller=then it is 0
Exponents are the same= divide coefficients

What is a hole?
- It is where nothing can happen.
- When the numerator and the denominator have a common factor it crosses out creating a hole

What are zeros?
-when the numerator equals zero
-but make sure there are no holes like
y= (x+5)(x+3)/(x+5)(x+7)
There zero is only -3 because there is a hole at -5
