FMLA is a federal law that protects an employee's job while they are on a leave of absence. Short-term disability is an insurance that pays a portion of an employee’s wages while they are off of work due to their medical condition.

8 hours or the amount of time the member is typically scheduled to work (four 10-hour days, three 12-hour days, etc.).

*Legally we are allowed to assess the amount of time the member is scheduled to work - including overtime. We are reviewing our practice and will share our findings.*

How far in advance do members need manager approval on requested time off for their absence to count as scheduled time off?

Manager approval is required no later than halfway through their shift the day before the requested day off.
