Stock meds: How many bottles of a specific stock med should be open at any given time? (i.e. Colace)
ONE! Please look before you open another stock bottle. We have too many open bottles of the same med.
Lab supplies: How do you know when you need to reorder more?
LOOK, LOOK, LOOK for supplies to make sure that is not located elsewhere. Recently there were UA C&S kits reordered but there is a box full of them under the Aster Clean Utility sink.
Tracheostomy in-service: is it mandatory?
Yes it is mandatory. If you are unable to attend the in-service, you are responsible for reviewing the tracheostomy competency and following it when you need to do trach cares and suctioning.

If you notice any bruising or other skin issues on a resident, who do you inform?
The nurse.
Drug Busters: Where are they located, and where do you need to reorder them from?
Under each nurse's station. Reorder them from MHS
When you need a provider to address something, for example Dr. O'Conner, do we fax his office?
No! That is why Colin is available M-F 8-5 and makes rounds M, W, Thurs. If something needs addressed after hours, call the on-call physician.
How do you know when you need to do a skin assessment on a resident? Where would you find this information?
Check the skin book. They are located at each nurse's station and they are scheduled depending on the day of the week.

If a patient is discharging in the next day or two, how would you go about reordering narcotics?
Try to utilize the E-Kit for narcotics. They are expensive and we are wasting cards that we only used 2 pills from.
Where do the UTI protocol sheets go after they have been reviewed by a physician?
In the triple check folder.
What all is included with a bimonthly assessment?
Vitals, braden, daily skilled note
What is your responsibility to do when a resident is admitted to the facility
Get their weight and do the red carpet hour sheet

Test Strips: Are they for all residents that need BS checks?
No! Only SNF residents. Loden/Woodbine test strips need to be ordered for that specific resident.
If your CNAs do not complete their charting who is responsible?
How many ICF/Hospice residents do we have on Aster/Bluestem?
5 residents.
What is your responsibility after a resident discharges?
Strip the room of linens and supplies.
What should you be offering to residents both days and evening shifts?
Fridge medications: How do we organize them?
All medications in the fridge need to be organized by category and separate. For example, suppositories do not belong with eye drops. :(
