I can stick my hand out of the bus window to feel the breeze. True or False?

FALSE! Sticking your hand out of the bus window could get you hurt.

100
You're walking onto the bus, and the driver is sitting in their seat. What is something polite and kind you could say to them?

Hello, Hi, Good Morning, Thank you for driving the bus today.

100

What should you do if you get separated from your group?

Find a trusted adult or staff

100

What level voice should you use while the adult is giving directions on your field trip? 0, 1, 2, 3, 4

0! When adults are talking your voice is off.

100

You accidentally bump into someone during the field trip. What should you say?

Say "Sorry" or "Excuse me"

200

It's okay to sit backwards in my seat so I can talk to my friends. True or False?

FALSE! You need to face forward to make sure you stay safe.

200

Why is it important to listen to the bus driver's directions right away?

So we can stay safe, so the bus driver can do their job, so we can get to our field trip as quickly as possible

200

True or False: It’s okay to run ahead if you’re excited and know where to go.

FALSE. If you run ahead you might miss important information or go the wrong way.

200

Field trips are a free day where we don't have to follow school rules. We're not even at school! True or False.

FALSE! You are with your teacher and your class. You are still expected to follow the school rules on a field trip. Remember, you are representing W-K.

200

Why is it important not to touch things, animals, or plants on field trips?

They could be poisonous, fragile, or special.

300

It's important to keep my hands, feet, and belongings out of the aisle and in my own seat.

TRUE! If there is an emergency, the aisle needs to be clear.

300

Your teacher told you to sit in the seat next to a kid you really don't like. You feel upset and don't want to sit there at all. What positive choice can you make?

Take a deep breath and think about the size of the problem. Who you are sitting by on the bus is a small problem. You can sit next to this student for the short bus ride. The sooner you sit down, the sooner the bus can go. Any time you take to argue comes off of your field trip.

300

If you start to feel upset or frustrated, what calm-down tools can you use on a field trip?

Taking deep breaths, asking for a break, go for a walk with an adult
300

How can you make a good first impression?

Calm body, listening ears, using your manners, following directions. Behavior that would get you greens makes a good impression!

300

You hear a teacher give directions, but your friend didn’t hear them. What should you do?

Help repeat the directions kindly and quietly.

400

What voice volumes are appropriate on the bus? 0, 1, 2, 3, 4

0, 1 or 2. It's important to stay quiet so the bus driver can focus on driving.

400

You sat in the seat next to the kid you don't like. Your friend is sitting three seats behind you. You're up on your knees looking over the seat behind you so you can talk. They're far away so you're yelling back and forth. Expected or Unexpected?

UNEXPECTED. Your bottom should be on the bottom of the seat, facing forward, so you can stay safe. Yelling on the bus is also unsafe. It distracts the bus driver.

400

You notice your group is moving on to the next place, but you can't find your water bottle. You decide to take some time to look for it. Your mom is going to be SO mad if you lose it! You know you'll find your group eventually. Expected or Unexpected?

UNEXPECTED! Losing your water bottle is a small deal. Mom might be a little upset, but she'd be more upset if you got lost. A water bottle can be replaced.

400

Your friend isn't listening to adults and you think it's so funny. You begin laughing along with them and feel like you're in the yellow zone. What should you do?

You could take some deep breaths and ignore the friend. Let them get in trouble by themselves. If you're still feeling silly, you can ask a trusted adult for a break.

400

You dropped something while the bus is moving and now it's rolling down the aisle. What is the safest choice?

Wait until the bus stops and ask an adult for help.

500

If there is an emergency and we need to quickly evacuate the bus, should you stop to grab your lunch box and backpack?

No! Leave your belongings behind so we can make sure everyone stays safe. Taking time to grab your things increases the chances of you or someone else getting hurt. All of your things can be replaced.

500

Your teacher has asked you to follow the bus rules several times, and now there is going to be a negative consequence on the field trip. What are some possible negative consequences?

Your teacher might have you sit by an adult on the bus. You might stay on the bus with your teacher while your class goes on the field trip. You might not be able to participate in the whole field trip and will need to sit out. The bus could bring you back to WK, and your parents will be called.

500

Your field trip is outside, and it has started to rain. The bus isn't scheduled to be back to pick you up for another 30 minutes. You notice your teacher is on the phone. What should you do?

You can try to find cover if you don't want to get wet. Getting rained on is uncomfortable but it's a small deal. Your teacher is on the phone, probably with the bus driver to come pick you up. Let the adults handle it the best way they can.

500

What does it mean to dominate a setting?

Making too much noise or taking up too much space in an unexpected way.

500
It's lunch time on the field trip and you realize you left your home lunch on the bus earlier in the day. Your teacher has a school sack lunch to offer you. You think that lunch looks gross. What should you do?

You have a few choices.  You could choose to not take the school lunch and feel hungry. You could take the school lunch and just eat the parts you like. You could also ask friends if they would share any parts of their lunch with you, but remember they might say no.
